CHICAGO – The UIC men’s and women’s basketball programs spent Friday (Oct. 25) at the Hilton Chicago Hotel, participating in the 2013 Chicago College Hoops Media Day & Tip-Off Luncheon. UIC head coaches Howard Moore and Regina Miller fielded questions from media members at the event, which was hosted by the Chicago Sports Commissions & WISE Chicago.

Moderated by WGN Radio’s David Kaplan, the event featured head coaches, student-athletes and athletic directors from Chicago State University, DePaul University, Loyola University Chicago, Northwestern University and UIC. Additionally, senior forward Hayden Humes delivered a speech about the student-athlete experience at UIC.

The Flames Dance Team participated in the event as greeters and handed out UIC promotional materials. Highlights from each school were played while lunch was served and each school donated two items for a raffle that was conducted at the conclusion of the luncheon.

The men’s squad commences the season on Nov. 2 with a home exhibition contest against the University of Chicago and then opens up regular season play versus Drake on Nov. 9 at the UIC Pavilion.

The women take the court for the first time Nov. 2 when the Flames entertain Elmhurst College in their lone exhibition game. The regular season opener is set for Nov. 8 when St. Xavier visits the UIC Pavilion.
