The 2011-12 UIC Women's Basketball team held its first official practice of the season this morning as new Head Coach Regina Miller begins her reign as Flames general.

Senior Guard Shamiea Green, the Flames leading scorer last year, recaps her experience after the first practice under Coach Miller.

Miller comes to UIC after serving 16 years as a Division-I Head Coach at Western Illinois and UNLV. With the Lady Rebels, Miller compiled a mark of 175-125 over a 10-year span, including six-consecutive postseason appearances, the longest such stretch in program history. In 2002, her squad garnered an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament with a record of 23-8 and in 2004 she guided UNLV to the WNIT Championship Game.

Miller returns three starters from last year's 14-16 (9-9 Horizon League) squad including Green, senior Jasmine Bailey and junior Taylor Foulks.

The Flames commence play with a home-exhibition game against St. Xavier on Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. and begin regular season action on Nov. 12 as they welcome Drake for a 3 p.m. tip.
