CHICAGO – It is that time of year when kids return to the classroom and NBC 5 kicked off the season with a Back to School Supply Drive. UIC head women's basketball coach Regina Miller stopped by and contributed to the drive Friday (August 22) as the station provided for local students in need. Miller also met with NBC 5’s Leeann Trotter, who reported live from the scene.

“This is a tremendous opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life and hopefully inspire others to give back as well,” said Miller. “The Flames believe it is important to give back to the community and help out a good cause. UIC is a big part of the fabric of this community and everybody in our program aims to be a mentor to young people.”

New backpacks, notebooks, paper and pencils were just a few items on the back to school wish list. Donors dropped off school supplies at the NBC 5 Plaza, Intercontinental Hotel and Daymark Realty. All supplies were donated to students in need.
