CHICAGO - The 2014-15 UIC women's basketball non-league schedule was announced Monday (Aug. 4). The Flames will be challenged with road contests at Northwestern, Miami (Ohio) and Eastern Illinois along with eight home games against in-state opponents. UIC will also participate in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic over Winter Break (Dec. 20-21).

UIC is coming off the best season in school history in 2013-14 as the Flames won a program-record 26 games and collected the first postseason championship (WBI) in program history. UIC owned the nation's largest turnaround (+17) and broke program records for points scored (2,598), scoring average (74.2 ppg), field goals made (940), rebounds (1,503), free throws made (557) and assists (526).

For its season opener on Nov. 14, UIC will play host to Bradley for the first time since the 2010-11 season. The Flames defeated the Braves by a score of 74-65 in that meeting on Dec. 21, 2010. UIC has won three straight home matchups with Bradley dating back to 2006.

Three days later (Nov. 17), UIC will play host to Northern Illinois looking for its fifth consecutive home victory over the Huskies. The Flames have won four straight contests overall against NIU, including a 66-54 road victory last season on New Year’s Eve.

Coach Miller and the Flames will play their first road contest on Nov. 22 against Miami (Ohio).  The matchup will be the third in the all-time series and UIC’s first in Oxford, Ohio. The Flames picked up a 76-66 home win over the RedHawks last season behind 9-of-18 shooting beyond the arc.

UIC and Northwestern will meet in Evanston for the second consecutive season on Nov. 26. Last season, the Flames hung tough with the Wildcats in the first half before Northwestern pulled away for a 79-63 victory at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

UIC will conclude the month with a home matchup against Illinois-Springfield on Nov. 30. The Flames have never played the Prairie Stars, who compete in the NCAA Division II's Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC).

UIC and SIU-Edwardsville will meet for the fourth consecutive year when the Flames play host to the Cougars on Dec. 3. Last season, UIC cruised to an 88-65 road victory for its sixth win in seven all-time meetings with SIUE.

UIC and Western Illinois will meet for the first time in 21 seasons on Dec. 6. The contest, held inside the Flames Athletic Center, will be the first contest in the all-time series since Feb. 12, 1994 when the Flames defeated the Regina Miller-led Fighting Leathernecks on the road by a score of 62-58. Miller was in her second season as Western Illinois’ head coach.

Following a seven-day break, the Flames will make the 180-mile trip south to take on Eastern Illinois on Dec. 14. UIC last played in Charleston, Ill. on Dec. 11, 2010 when UIC dropped a 63-62 decision to the Panthers.

UIC quickly returns home to play host to Chicago State on Dec. 16. The Flames and Cougars have not met since 2007 when UIC collected a 75-60 road win. UIC has won four straight meetings with Chicago State, including an 80-62 home victory on Dec. 14, 2005.

The Flames participate in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic over Winter Break (Dec. 20-21). The event, hosted by Sport Tours International, will be played at the South Point Hotel Arena located just a few miles from the famous Las Vegas Strip. UIC opens play against Mississippi State on Dec. 20 and takes on Old Dominion the next day. Miller graduated from ODU in 1984 and served as an assistant coach for the Monarchs from 1987-92.

The Flames return to Chicago to host Loyola on Dec. 30 and will close out their non-conference season at home against Robert Morris-Springfield on Jan. 3. Loyola defeated UIC, 78-68, the last time the two programs met at the UIC Pavilion on March 9, 2013.

For season tickets and renewal information please call 312-413-UIC1. UIC will play a total of 17 home games which includes nine Horizon League contests.
