March 13, 2012
CHICAGO - Fresh off of her historic inaugural season as head coach of the UIC Flames, Regina Miller recently opened registration for her 2012 summer basketball camps. Youth players will be given instruction from one of the Horizon League's top coaching staffs with skill development drills and competitions.
"Our program is thrilled to be hosting these camps," said Miller. "What I love most about being a basketball coach is the chance to work with young players to help them realize their potential."
The series of three sessions will begin on June 11 with the Individual Camp catered for players looking to further their hoop skills. The Team Camp on June 23/24 is a two-day competition between participating squads with a three-game per day guarantee. The Elite Camp on August 4 is designed for advanced individuals with aspirations of playing collegiately.
During the 2011-12 season, Miller set a program record for most wins by a first-year head coach as her squad went 18-13 on the season. Eighteen victories also ties for the second-most wins in school history, missing the all-time mark of 19 set in 2006-07. In the postseason, the Flames defeated Butler in the quarterfinal round of the Horizon League tournament and advanced the semifinals for the first time in five years.
