Chambers Named MCC Player of the Week|

Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago's Jaysie Chambers was named Midwestern Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week it was announced earlier today.
The freshman came off the bench last week to average 16.5 ppg and 7.5 rpg while shooting 56 percent from the field in less than 20 minutes per contest. A pair of strong second-half performances helped the Flames extend their winning streak to three games while claiming back-to-back league road victories for the first time since the 1994-95 season.
Against Cleveland State on Thursday, Feb. 17, she scored 18 of her career-high 20 points in the second half leading the Flames past the Vikings, 60-53. On Saturday, Feb. 19, she again shined in the second stanza, tabbing 11 of her 13 points in the period helping pace UIC past Detroit, 76-65. She also led the Flames with eight rebounds against the Titans.
Chambers, a 6-foot-2 forward/center, leads UIC in rebounding (6.0 rpg) and is fourth on the squad in scoring (7.9 ppg). Her numbers have shot up in league competition as she is averaging 11.0 ppg and 6.9 rpg while shooting 55 percent (41-for-75) against MCC foes.
The Flames, now 10-14 overall and 5-6 in the MCC, welcome the top two teams in the league to the UIC Pavilion this week. They battle league-leader UW-Green Bay on Thursday, Feb. 24, at 7:00 p.m., then tackle UW-Milwaukee on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 4:30 p.m.
