INDIANAPOLIS - Senior center Katie Hannemann recently spoke with The Horizon League Network’s Kyle Binder about the Flames’ historic season. UIC (19-7, 8-5 HL) tied the program record for single-season wins Monday (Feb. 17) with a 79-54 home victory over Milwaukee.

The Flames used a 30-0 run in the first half to pull away from the Panthers. Hannemann scored a game-high 26 points to lead the Flames. Hannemann collected her seventh career 20-point performance and second in the last three games. Over the last three games, Hannemann is averaging 24.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and shooting 71.1 percent from the field.

Hannemann scores 14.0 points per contest and ranks third in the Horizon League in field-goal percentage (.518). She owns six double-doubles this season and 11 in her career. Hannemann ranks sixth in the Horizon League with 7.8 rebounds per contest and third in offensive rebounds (3.4 per game).

During Horizon League play, Hannemann is averaging 15.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and shooting 55.9 percent from the floor. She has three double-doubles against conference opponents, including 19 points and 13 rebounds at Wright State (Feb. 15).

Hannemann (952 career points) surpassed the 900-career point plateau at Valparaiso (Feb. 10) and became the 19th player in program history to accomplish the feat. She is on pace to finish the regular season with over 990 points.

Hannemann was voted Preseason First Team All-Horizon League. She was selected Second Team All-League last season after averaging 13.6 points and 6.9 rebounds.

UIC’s 19-7 overall record is the program’s best mark through 26 games in program history. The 2006-07 UIC squad went 19-13 and made the program’s lone trip to the postseason (WNIT). The Flames are 8-5 through 13 conference games for the second time under head coach Regina Miller as they also accomplished the feat in 2011-12.

UIC, currently in fifth-place in the Horizon League, has the next seven days off before playing at fourth-place Youngstown State (11-12, 7-3 HL) on Feb. 27. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT inside the Beeghly Center.
