CHICAGO—UIC women’s basketball player Katie Hannemann has been selected as the Illinois National Guard UIC Flames Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of Feb. 10-16. She averaged 24 points, 9.5 rebounds and shot 73 percent from the field in games at Valparaiso and Wright State.

In the 82-73 victory over Valparaiso last Monday, the senior recorded a season high 29 points on 11-of-13 shooting. She also shot 7-of-8 from the free throw line and recorded her sixth career 20-point performance.

Against Wright State on Saturday, Hannemann collected her sixth double-double on the season with 19 points and 13 rebounds. She also dished out a season-high five assists and shot 8-of-13 from the field.

In the last six games, the Homer Glen, Ill. native has converted 60.4 percent of her field-goal attempts. She ranks fifth in the Horizon League in rebounds per game with 7.9. Hannemann (927 points) is the 19th player in program history to record 900-career points.

This is Hannemann’s first time being named Illinois National Guard Student-Athlete of the Week so far this season. She is the third women’s basketball player to receive the honor.

The Flames will next host Horizon League opponent, Milwaukee, on Monday (Feb. 17).  The game is set to tip-off at 7 p.m. (CT) at the UIC Pavilion. A win would match the 2006-07 squad (19-13) for the most wins in program history.
