Hannemann Named Horizon League Player of the Week|

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Redshirt junior Katie Hannemann has been named the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the period of Feb. 4-10 as announced by the conference office on Monday morning. Hannemann was also named League Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com. This is the first career weekly honor for Hannemann and first Player of the Week laurel for UIC this season.
"Katie keeps improving day-in and day-out," said head coach Regina Miller. "She is doing a much better job of finishing around the basket and seems more comfortable when she has the ball down low."
Hannemann posted a career-high of 29 points and 14 made field goals in last Thursday’s 84-67 win over Milwaukee, which corralling a game-high eight rebounds. The six-foot one-inch center tallied 19 of 29 points in the second half where she shot 9-of-11 from the floor. Hannemann’s 14 buckets serves as the second-highest total by any Horizon League player this season (Shareta Brown – 17). Twenty nine points also stands as UIC’s highest scoring output of the season so far.
Hannemann is currently 11th in the Horizon League with a scoring average 13.0 points per game and ranks ninth in rebounding with a 6.7 boards per game clip. Her 50.5 percent shooting mark (108-of-214) ranks fifth in the conference and 36th in the country.
The Flames resume action on Monday night at Cleveland State with tip scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
