Ehrhardt & Campbell Named Illinois National Guard Student-Athletes of the Week|

CHICAGO—UIC women’s cross country runner Tess Ehrhardt and women’s basketball player Ruvanna Campbell have both been selected as the Illinois National Guard UIC Flames Student-Athletes of the Week for the period Jan.27-Feb.2. Ehrhardt set a meet and school record over the weekend. Campbell tallied her third straight 20-point game and her third consecutive double-double in last week’s play.
Ehrhardt helped her team to a third place finish at the Carthage Invite on Friday afternoon. The junior finished her 1,000-meter run in a record-setting time of 2:56.15. Her performance set a new meet record and one school record.
This marks Ehrhardt’s third time being honored as the Illinois National Guard Student-Athlete of the Week on the year, but the first time for the spring season.
At Milwaukee last Wednesday, Campbell led her team to an 84-70 victory. She ended the night with 21 points, 12 rebounds, and tied career highs with three blocks and four assists. The redshirt sophomore also had a big game against Wright State on Saturday. She contributed 20 points, 15 rebounds, four steals and was 9-of-12 from the field. The Chicago native currently owns seven 20-point efforts and five 15-plus rebound performances on the season. She ranks first in the conference in rebounds and field-goal percentage, third in blocks, fifth in steals and sixth in scoring. She is also nationally ranked in rebounds per game (15) and field-goal percentage (66%).
This marks Campbell’s first time being honored as the Illinois National Guard Student-Athlete of the Week, but the second women’s basketball player on the season.
The women’s cross-country team will next compete at the Meyo Invitational on Feb.7 and University of Chicago Duals on Feb. 8. The women’s basketball team will host a conference match-up against Oakland on Tuesday. The contest is set to begin at 7 p.m. CT inside the UIC Pavilion.
