Women's Basketball Looks To Continue Three-Game Winning Streak

Chicago, Ill. - After notching three straight league road victories, the UIC women's basketball team returns to the Pavilion to host Detroit on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 7:00 p.m. CST. The Flames enter the game 10-9 overall and 4-3 in league play, while the Titans are 4-15 overall and own a 1-5 mark in conference action.
Detroit leads the series 17-12, marking the 30th matchup between the Titans and Flames. Last season, UIC dropped UDM on the road to clinch the No. 3 seed entering the 2006 Horizon League Tournament.
The last time out, the Flames handed crosstown Loyola a 74-57 loss on Jan. 20. Senior Jacquay Holmes paced the Flames with 21 points, while sophomore Nikki Grobbecker notched her fourth double figure rebound contest this season with ten boards.
Detroit is coming off three straight league losses in two weeks. Wright State defeated the Titans in Detroit on Jan. 20, 67-51. Despite the loss, Titan junior India Bruster picked up her first career double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.
In an effort by UIC Athletics and the WBCA to increase breast cancer awareness and support the search for a cure, fans are asked to wear pink or sport pink ribbons in a show of support for Thursday's "Think Pink" game.
UIC returns to the hardwood on Feb.1 to face Cleveland State on the road at 2:00 p.m. CST.
