INDIANAPOLIS – UIC senior Jasmine Bailey has earned the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award for the period of Jan. 16-22, the conference office announced earlier today.  The honor is Bailey’s fourth of her career and second this season, garnering the accolade on Nov. 21, 2011.

Bailey averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in two home wins this past week, while shooting 16-of-30 from the field, including 7-of-11 from three-point range.

In Thursday’s 77-42 triumph over Butler, Bailey posted 22 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals.  She now leads the conference in 20-point outings with nine.  Bailey also connected a career-high four treys on only five attempts.  Combined with senior Shamiea Green’s 29 points, the duo single-handedly outscored the entire Bulldog team, 51-42.

In Saturday’s win over Valparaiso, the St. Louis native tallied 19 points and 13 boards, collecting her eighth double-double of the year.

Bailey paces the Horizon League in scoring (19.6), ranks second in assists (4.6) and third in rebounding (9.8), standing as the only player to rank top-three in points, assists and rebounds per game.

The Flames return to action on Saturday at cross-town rival Loyola at 2 p.m. CT.
