Women's Basketball Clashes With Cleveland State On Saturday Afternoon Jan. 4, 2008
Women's Basketball Game Notes in PDF Format Chicago, Ill. - The UIC women's basketball team is looking for its first Horizon League victory on Saturday afternoon when they face Cleveland State on the road. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CST at Henry J. Goodman Arena. The Flames (4-8, 0-1) lead the series, 27-20. UIC swept Cleveland State (7-5, 1-0) in both regular season contests last year, as well as in the quarterfinals of the 2007 Horizon League Tournament in Green Bay. UIC is coming off a 73-62 loss to Youngstown State in its league opener on Jan. 2 at Beeghly Center. Sophomores Cassie Johnson and Briana Hinkle paced the team's offense with 14 points each. Junior Nikki Grobbecker pulled down 11 rebounds on the night. Cleveland State enters the game after topping Loyola, 75-58, on Thursday night at home. Four players scored in double-digits with senior Brittany Korth leading the pack with 15 points. Junior Dominique Butler was two rebounds shy of a double-double with 14 points and eight boards. UIC returns to the Pavilion to host Valparaiso and Butler on Jan. 10 and 12.
