UIC Women's Basketball Notes in PDF Format Get Acrobat Reader

Chicago, Ill. - The UIC women's basketball team opens Horizon League action on Thursday night in a matchup against Youngstown State at 4:15 p.m. CST.

UIC split with the Penguins last season. The Flames lead the series, 10-6.

The Flames (4-7) enter the contest after tabbing their fourth straight home victory with a 70-62 triumph over Bucknell on Dec. 28. UIC held the Bison to a .292 field goal percentage and forced the squad to commit 16 turnovers.

Sophomore Jessie Miller led the charge with a season-high 21 points. Miller and sophomore Cassie Johnson each pulled down a team-best eight boards.

Youngstown State (5-6) is coming off a 74-56 win over Akron on Dec. 21. The Penguins were paced by junior transfer Tiara Scott with a career-high 25 points and 21 rebounds.

UIC faces Cleveland State on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 4:00 p.m. CST.
