    Troy, Ala. - Chaquita Alexander led five Troy State players in double-digits with a game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Trojans to the 74-53 non-conference victory over the University of Illinois at Chicago women's basketball team at Trojan Arena on Saturday night.

    Troy State also received solid performances from Constance Kelly (16 points), Kim McGriff (13 points), Thea Herring (13 points) and Latoya Gay (10 points).

    With the victory, Troy State improves to 3-4, while the Flames fall to 5-2 on the campaign.

    For the game, UIC shot a meager 27.3 percent from the field on 21-of-77 shooting, while Troy State shot a torrid 57.4 percent (27-for-47).

    Senior guard LeKesha Williams scored a team-high 14 points, despite shooting five-for-24 from the field. Senior forward Jaysie Chambers recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

    Senior point guard Consuela Hall scored nine points and had seven steals.

    In the first half, UIC took an early 7-5 lead at the 16:17 mark, following a Williams' jumper.

    Troy State then took matters into its own hands and went on a 16-2 run, led by six points from Herring to give the Trojans a 21-9 edge and a lead that they would never relinquish.

    UIC will be back in action on Monday evening, as they will travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide at 7:00 p.m.
