    CHICAGO -Cassie Johnson led all scorers with 27 points as the UIC women's basketball team knocked off St. Xavier, 82-75, in their final exhibition game on Tuesday night.

    The two squads went back and forth all night long with the score being knotted up 10 times. St. Xavier lead by two at the half, but a layup by sophomore Kiara Strickland gave the Flames the lead for good with 13:39 left to play.

    UIC showed strength inside with 46 points coming in the paint. Sophomore Jasmine Bailey controlled the glass, grabbing a game-high eight rebounds, including three offensive boards.

    The Flames will open the regular season against Eastern Michigan at the Pavilion on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m.
