Chicago, Ill. - New University of Illinois at Chicago head women's basketball coach Lisa Ryckbosch made her debut a memorable one as the Flames earned a 80-72 exhibition victory over St. Xavier at the UIC Pavilion on Thursday night.

"I'm glad to get the season going," Ryckbosch said. "I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning.

"There's a lot of things to work on, but it's great to play against someone besides ourselves."

Senior shooting guard LeKesha Williams (Oklahoma City, Okla./Midwest City) scored a game-high 34 points to pace the Flames offensive attack. Williams also finished the contest with six rebounds, five steals and four assists.

"I was so pleased with (Williams') energy and enthusiasm in every facet of the game," Ryckbosch said. "I thought she played terrific."

UIC also received solid efforts from senior point guard Consuela Hall (Childersburg, Ala./Childersburg) and sophomore forward Chastity Quinn (Farmington Hills, Mich./West Bloomfield). Hall recorded 15 points and was 3-of-6 from beyond the three-point arc, while Quinn chipped in 10 points and five rebounds.

UIC jumped out to an early 17-8 lead over the Cougars, led by nine points, including a pair of treys from Hall in the opening five minutes of the contest.

St. Xavier, bounced back and went on a 12-4 run, led by six points from guard Mary Cain to give the Cougars the 21-20 lead with 10:40 left in the half.

Williams, however, made St. Xavier's lead a brief one as she scored 10 of her 15 first-half points to help the Flames head into the intermission with a 42-33 lead over the Cougars.

Williams continued her hot streak in the opening minutes of the second half as she scored 11 points to lead UIC to a 13-4 run and a 55-37 lead over the Cougars.

Jackie DiMaggio and Stephanie Wright each scored 15 points apiece to lead St. Xavier, while teammates Mary Cain and Jayme Brown each added 12 for the Cougars.

UIC will be back in action on Thursday, November 14th as they will host the Chicago Challengers at 6:00 p.m. at the UIC Pavilion for their final exhibition contest of the season.
