The UIC women's basketball team opens Horizon League play at home on January 8 against Youngstown State as the conference office announced the full 2014-15 league schedule on Thursday morning. The 16-game slate, which features eight home contests, lasts until March 7.
Former UIC women's basketball player and 2014 graduate Katie Hannemann has signed a contract to play professional basketball in Ireland. Hannemann will play for the Brunell Ladies Basketball Club of the Ireland Women's Premier League. Hannemann joins Rachel Story (Portugal), Jasmine Bailey (Italy) and Jessie Miller (Germany) as former UIC Flames currently playing professionally overseas.
UIC head women's basketball coach Regina Miller announced the addition of three players to the program on Monday afternoon. Kendyl Nunn (Chicago, Ill./Toledo/Casper College), Manuella Kanmegni (Bobigny, France/ Kankakee Community College) and Cate Soane (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Loyola Chicago) will join the Flames this upcoming season.
The 2014-15 UIC women's basketball non-league schedule was announced Monday (Aug. 4). The Flames will be challenged with road contests at Northwestern, Miami (Ohio) and Eastern Illinois along with eight home games against in-state opponents. UIC will also participate in the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic over Winter Break (Dec. 20-21).

The best season in program history ended with a postseason title as UIC (26-9) defeated Stephen F. Austin (23-13), 73-64, in the Championship Game of the 2014 Women's Basketball Invitational. The Horizon League has captured two straight WBI championships as Detroit took home the title in 2013.
