CARBONDALE, Ill. - Inclement weather and heavy rains forced the UIC men's and women's track team's season-opening outdoor event at the SIU Invite to end prematurely. In a combined seven events, the men placed third, while the women finished in fifth-place.

On the women's side, junior Andrea Crump finished third in the high jump, leaping 5.32 meters in the final round and collecting six team points. Erin Clark (47.30 meters; 8th) and Alexandria Warner (44.38 meters; 10th) both carded top-10 finishes in the hammer throw.

In men's action, sophomore Justin Higginbotham placed fourth in the high jump (1.80 meters), while Matt Kubik (4.01 meters) took fourth in the pole vault. Anthony Hollingsworth (5.82 meters; 9th) and Higginbotham (5.77 meters; 10th) both recorded top-10 tallies in the long jump.

UIC will resume action next Saturday (April 2), when the Flames travel to West Lafayette, Ind., to compete in the Poehlein Invitational on the campus of Purdue.
