Track & Field Heads to Meyo Invite, University of Chicago Duals|

CHICAGO,Ill. – Juniors Tess Ehrhardt and Rebecca Zaiter will be traveling to South Bend, Ind., to compete in the star-studded Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame University. The two-day meet is scheduled to begin on Friday, Feb. 7 at 10:00 a.m. CT.
Ehrhardt is projected to be running the 5,000-meter run on Friday and Zaiter the 800-meter run on Saturday. As Zaiter enters competition this weekend, she will be looking to improve her, 2:15.55, 800-meter time from last year’s meet.
“This is one of the most prestigious meets in the Midwest and a chance to face some very good competition,” said head coach Jim Knoedel. “Neither of them has been challenged, and this meet will certainly provide an opportunity for some school record performances”
The remaining majority of the track & field teams will be participating in the University of Chicago Duals Saturday, set to start at 11:30 a.m.
The last time the Flames competed at the Chicago Duals was in 2011, senior Aimee Schuh took home top-honors in the 55 meter hurdles finishing in 8.50 seconds. Senior Jaimie Johnson also competed in the one-mile, crossing the finish line with a time of 5:25.20.
In 2011, the men’s team was dominated by Angelos and Photis Karkalis and Thomas Kohs. A. Karakalis raced against 21 runners in the one-mile run, taking home first-place accolades with a time of 4:20.57. P. Karkalis competed in the 3,000 meter run crossing the finish line in 8:48.18, and Kohs ran the 5,000 meter coming in fourth-place with a time of 16:43.82.
The Flames will be going against runners from 11 teams, some include, Chicago State University, Elmhurst College, Illinois Institute of Technology, Lake Forest College, Loyola University, The University of Chicago, and Valparaiso University.
