CHICAGO, Ill. – Junior Seyi Ogunleye was named the Horizon League Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the period of Jan.28-Feb.3.  This honor serves as Ogunleye’s second weekly accolade this season.

“Seyi did a phenomenal job without having been able to do any full jump,” said head coach Jim Knoedel. “His score demonstrated that he will be a tough guy to beat in a Horizon League meet.”

Ogunleye accounted for 20 of the 29 points earned by the men’s team at the Carthage Invite.  He competed in the long jump and triple jump, taking home first-place honors in both.  In the long jump, Ogunleye recorded a mark of 6.89 meters, which is the top mark in the Horizon League this season.  He also leaped a distance of 14.56 meters in the triple jump.

Ogunleye and the Flames will continue action Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Meyo Invitational and University of Chicago Duals.
