CHICAGO - The UIC men's and women's indoor track & field teams will compete in their second meet of the 2012 season Friday, when the Flames travel to Kenosha, Wis., to take part in the Carthage College "Tadd Metzger Invitational" at the Tarble Athletic and Recreation Center.

The Flames opened the indoor campaign at the Dick Pond Open in Romeoville, Ill., on Friday, Jan. 13, recording a combined nine first-place finishes between the men's and women's squads. The Flames did not participate in last Friday's North Central Invitational, as originally scheduled, due to inclement weather in the Chicagoland region.

Other competitor's in Friday's field will include UW-Parkside, UW-Stevens Point, St. Francis, Carroll University, Concordia (Wis.) and host Carthage.

"I am anxious to get back to racing after missing competition last weekend at North Central due to snow," said head coach Jim Knoedel. "We had a great week of training, and I'm anticipating some strong performances. For some of our athletes, this will be their first meet of the year, and it will be interesting to see how they've progressed leading up to this point of the season."

Competition in Friday's invitational is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. CST.
