Carbondale, Ill. - Sophomore Jenni Goebel and junior Rich Daubert both ran great races on Saturday morning as the UIC men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up their season at the NCAA Midwest Regional.

Goebel fell just short of qualifying for the NCAA Championships, finishing the 6-kilometer race in 15th place with a time of 21:33. Only the top two individuals not on a team advancing to the NCAA Championship earn a bid and Goebel, who crossed just six seconds behind Horizon League champion Kristyne McGuinn, was the 10th non-qualifying team finisher.

Daubert, meanwhile, paced the men's team to a 20th place team finish as he crossed in a team-best 39th in the 165-man, 10-kilometer race. Daubert finished in 31:50.

The UIC women's team ran just four runners and did not qualify for a team score.

In other race action, rookie Lizet Diaz ran to a 70th place finish in 22:26 followed by teammates Jessica Streit (117th/24:00) and Sara Jeffers (147th/24:57).

On the men's side, junior Joe Marren placed 95th in 33:04 and was followed by senior John Simon, running in his final cross country event, who crossed in 119th with a time of 33:54. Mikhail Davidyan (148th/34:56), Tristan Roche (151st/35:08) and Whitney Burns (162nd/36:12) also ran for the Flames.
