Men's Cross Country Takes Sixth At 2003 Horizon League Championships

Warren, Ohio - UIC rookie Jose Macias' 24th-place finish highlighted the men's cross country team's race at the 2003 Horizon League Championships at Avalon South Golf Course on Saturday morning. Overall, the men, took sixth out of eight competing squads at the event with 159 points. In the men's 8k championship, Macias (24th/26:44.83) and Mikhail Davidyan (26th/26:48.31) each cracked the top-30 to paced the Flames. Brian Roth (35th/27:13.21), Billy Poole-Harris (37th/27:20.39) and Jim Sulzberger (50th/27:44.95) were UIC's other scoring finishers on Saturday. The Bulldogs made it a clean sweep of the cross country championships by dominating the men's race, posting the top four finishers en route to an 18-point tally. Loyola placed second with 47 points, followed by Youngstown State (106), UW-Milwaukee (112), Wright State (149), UIC (159), Detroit (192) and UW-Green Bay (217). Both the men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action in two weeks as they compete at the NCAA District Championships on Nov. 15th.
