    Kenosha, Wis.- The UIC men's cross country team sent a team of two to the 2003 Midwest Collegiate on Saturday for some extra work, and work they did.

    Freshman Jose Macias and junior Brian Roth placed in the top half of finishers of the 8000-meter course. In their second race of the campaign, Macias placed 69th out of 385 runners with a time of 26:35, while Roth completed the course in 27:09 to finish at 113th.

    Wayne State University senior Nick Allen won the event with a time of 24:44. North Central College won the team title.

    The Flames sent only a partial team and did not place at the event.

    The UIC men's and women's cross country teams are back in action on Friday, September 26 at the Central Collegiate Invitational at Western Michigan University's Pine View Course in Three Rivers, Mich.
