Indianapolis, Ind. - Sophomore Nick Gazis picked up a second-place finish in the discus with a mark of 159'4 to lead the University of Illinois at Chicago men's track and field squad at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships at Michael A. Carroll Stadium, hosted by Butler on Friday afternoon.

Detroit captured the men's title with 146 points, followed by Youngstown State (123), Loyola (106), Butler (100), UW-Milwaukee (93) and UIC (36).

UIC received a pair of solid efforts from both their relay squads as the 400-meter relay team placed third overall with a mark of 44.33, followed by a fourth-place time of 3:24.26 in the 1,600-meter relay.

Junior Kevin Mitchem picked up points in both the 110-meter hurdles (5th, 15.76) and 400-meter hurdles (6th, 58.00), while senior distance runner Rich Daubert placed fifth overall in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:58.50.

UIC will be back in action on May 30th, as they will travel to Columbus, Ohio to participate in the NCAA Regionals, hosted by Ohio State.
