    Milwaukee, Wis. - Event titles by Terell Williams and Ezekiel Sayon highlighted the UIC men's and women's track and field teams at the Marquette Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

    Williams, the 2007 Horizon League javelin champion, took home his first javelin title of the season setting a new career-best mark of 56.95 meters. Williams also managed to earn a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.16 seconds.

    Sayon recorded his first 200-meter dash title of the 2008 campaign with a season-best time of 22.30 seconds. The freshman, who currently leads the Horzion League in the 100-meter dash, finished a close second behind Marquette's Tyler O'Brien in the 100-meter finals with a season-best time of 10.76 seconds.

    Lewis Brown, Brandon Stoffregen, Roger Pinon, and Nic Aubert earned Top 5 finishes for the Flames. Brown finished runner-up in the 800-meter run (2:00.06). Stoffregen took third-place in the 400-meter dash (:53.65). Pinon placed fourth in the 1,500-meter run (4:15.48) and Aubert fifth in the 5,000-meter run (16:21.32) to round out top finishes in the track events.

    In the throwing events, Joe Bailey set a new personal-best mark in the hammer throw with a fourth-place heave of 48.85 meters.

    On the women's side, Idara Essien continued to shine in the triple jump. The 2007 Horizon League triple jump champion finished in third-place with a leap of 11.84 meters.

     

     

    Olivia Myers had a nice outing in the 1,500-meter run. The freshman placed seventh with a time of 5:25.79.

    Mary Brennan, making her first outdoor appearance of the season, turned in a runner-up finish for the Flames in the 400-meter hurdles. She crossed the finish line in 1:15.11.

    Monique Bostert and Kristen McMurray also picked up eighth place finishes in the throwing events. Bostert turned in a season-best mark in the discus (37.53m), while McMurray posted a heave of 44.11 meters in the hammer throw.

    UIC will be busy next weekend as it performs in its last meet before the league championships. The Flames will travel to Indianapolis, Ind. for the Butler Twilight Invitational on Saturday, May 3. UIC will also send competitors to the Horizon League Heptathlon and Decathlon Championships, which begins on Friday, May 2 in Indianapolis.
