Macomb, Ill. - The 4x100 relay team of Joe Kepinski, Jerry Moody, Leslie Downing and Jon White turned in a third-place effort of 44.44 to help propel the University of Illinois at Chicago men's track and field team to the 8th-place finish at the Lee Calhoun Memorial Meet, hosted by Western Illinois, on Saturday afternoon.

Eastern Illinois won the overall title with 196.5 points, followed by Western Illinois (147.5), Marquette (115), DePaul (92), Loyola (73.5), UW-Milwaukee (46), Chicago State (37.5) and UIC (35).

Senior Rich Daubert chipped in a sixth-place and personal-best finish of 3:57.31 in the 1,500-meter run, while sophomore Whitney Burns added a seventh-place mark of 1:55.10 in the 800-meter run.

In the field events, sophomore Nick Gazis placed fifth in the discus with a heave of 145'8", while senior Joe Kepinski tied for fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 13'5 ¾".

UIC will be back in action on Thursday, as they will travel to Lawrence, Kan., to participate in the Kansas Relays through Saturday. The Flames will also participate in the Elmhurst Invitational on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.
