Men's Track and Field Places Second At Jerry England Invitational

Indianapolis, Ind. - Using the strength of five first-place finishes, the University of Illinois at Chicago men's track and field squad placed second overall at the Jerry England Invitational, hosted by the University of Indianapolis, on Saturday afternoon.

Those who took home first place finishes include: Mikhail Davidyan (5,000-meter run, 15:06.03), Marcus Lesley (110-meter hurdles, 14.65), Terrell Williams (pole vault, 4.26m), Joshua McNabb (triple jump, 12.98m) and Pat Redden (hammer throw, 45.83m).

Rend Lake captured the overall title with 202 points, followed by UIC (148), Indianapolis (140), Wittenberg (65), Danville CC (45), Vincennes (43), Northern Kentucky (38), Marian College (32), Case Western Reserve (8) and IUPUI (3).

Junior sprinter Brandon Cook and freshman field specialist Mike Savegnago garnered a pair of second-place finishes. Cook finished second overall in the 100-meter dash (11.03) and 200-meter dash (21.55), while Savegnago captured runner-up finishes in the high jump (1.83 m) and pole vault (4.11 m).

Sophomore sprinter Trent Thompson placed second overall in the 400-meter dash (49.80) and third in the 200-meter dash (21.78).

Freshman Joe Jambrone crossed the finish-line second in the 1,500-meter run (4:14.56). UIC's 4x100 (42.27) and 4x400 relay (3:25.69) teams each finished second.

Rounding out the third-place finishers for the Flames were Joseph Mbari (5,000-meter run, 15:39.89) and Jeff Simpson (pole vault, 3.96m).



UIC will be back in action on Saturday morning, as the Flames will participate in the Elmhurst Invitational at 10:00 a.m. (CST).
