Men's Track and Field Places Fifth At Horizon League Indoor Championships

Greencastle, Ind. - University of Illinois at Chicago freshman Chris Williams picked up a second-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 22'3 ¾" to help the Flames to a fifth-place finish at the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships at DePauw University. UW-Milwaukee won the overall title with 143 points, followed by Butler (135), Loyola (110), Youngstown State (100.33), UIC (26), and Detroit (12.66). The Flames also picked up fourth-place finishes from senior Kevin Mitchem (6'4", high jump) and freshman Matt Blasczyk (12'5 ½"). Other UIC individuals that finished in the top-five were junior Gabe Rivera (7.14, 60-meter dash) and Bob Thurnhoffer (21'8 ¼", long jump; 45' ½", triple jump).
UIC will be back in action on Saturday, as they will travel to South Bend, Ind., to participate in the Alex Wilson Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame, at 12:00 p.m.
