Men's Track And Field Races To Second Place Finish At Horizon League Indoor Championships|

Greencastle, Ind. - University of Illinois at Chicago junior transfer Marcus Lesley picked up two victories on his way to being named the Horizon League Performer of the Meet in the running events, as he led the men's track and field team to a second-place finish at the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Butler, at DePauw University over the weekend.
Lesley picked up a season-best, first-place time of 7.00 in the 60-meter dash, and rounded out the weekend with a winning mark of 8.32 in the 60-meter hurdles.
UW-Milwaukee won the overall title with 197 points, followed by UIC (88), Loyola (83), Butler (59), Detroit (51) and Youngstown State (48).
Sophomore Terell Williams was solid as well, picking up a second-place finish in the long jump (6.81 meters) along with a pair of third-place marks in the pole vault (4.45 meters) and triple jump (13.2 meters).
Senior throwing specialist Nick Gazis gathered a pair of top-three finishes with a runner-up mark in the shot put (14.89 meters) and a third-place heave of 15.58 meters in the weight throw.
Junior Brandon Cook placed second overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.54.
Rounding out the third-place finishes for the Flames were freshman Mike Savegnago (1.92 meters, high jump) and the 4x400 relay (3:26.78).
UIC will wrap up the indoor season on Saturday morning, as they will travel to South Bend, Ind., to participate in the Alex Wilson Invitational at 11:00 a.m. (CST).
