Milwaukee, Wis. - Senior Joe Marren turned in a personal-best, second-place finish of 2:30.9 in the 1,000-meter run at the UW-Milwaukee Tune-Up at the Klotsche Center on Friday evening.

"Joe had a very good time," UIC head coach Jim Knoedel said. "It was good to see him doing so well."

Senior Rich Daubert also had a runner-up finish in the 1-mile run with a mark of 4:22.11. Sophomore Whitney Burns followed close behind with a personal-best time of 4:23.79.

Senior Joe Kepinski placed third overall in the pole vault as he tied a season-high with a mark of 13'6". The Flames also received a third-place finish from their 4X400 relay team (3:31.18).

UIC also received personal best marks from: Jerry Moody (200-meter dash, 23.91); Danny Smith (400-meter dash, 52.09) and Brian Roth (3,000-meter run, 9:17.8).

"It's exciting to see us peaking at the right time for the Horizon League championships next weekend," Knoedel said.

UIC will be back in action on Saturday, as they will participate in the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by UW-Milwaukee at 4:00 p.m.
