Romeoville, Ill. - Freshman Wilmer Fernandez earned his first collegiate victory on Friday night with a winning time of 1:25.83 in the 600-meter run at the Lewis Friday Night Series.

Senior Danny Smith took home a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash, with a mark of 52.61, while sophomore Nick Gazis placed fifth overall in the weight throw with a toss of 44'2 1/2".

The Flames also received a solid performance from the 800-meter relay team with a third-place finish of 1:36.62.

UIC will be back in action on Saturday, as they will participate in the Cannon Classic, hosted by Butler.
