NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The UIC men's track & field team posted an all-around team effort Saturday, finishing second in the 19-team field with 72 total points. Highlighting the Flames' performance were Richmond Richter and Seyi Ogunleye, who claimed the respective top two spots in the triple jump competition.

In all, UIC collected 11 top-10 finishes. Richter was the lone individual medalist, leaping a meet-best 14.35 meters in the triple jump. Ogunleye finished just behind at 13.90 meters, good for second-place. Justen Garth finished second in the 60-meter dash, crossing the finishing line in 6.99 seconds. Angelos Karkalis claimed second-place honors in the 800-meter run (1:55.77). Ogunleye also carded a top-10 finish in the long jump, leaping 6.36 meters for a ninth-place tally.

"I was pleased with our new addition to the team at mid-year, Richmond Richter," said head coach Jim Knoedel. "He came up with a win in the triple jump in his first competition as a Flame. It will put him in the top-five on the Horizon League list. We had a good collective effort today."

Notable third-place finishers included Martin Hunter in the 200-meter dash (22.67 seconds), Roy Mwale in the 400-meter dash (50.53 seconds) and Matt Marzahl in the high jump (1.96 meters). Garth also finished fourth behind Hunter in the 200-meter dash (22.84).

The anticipated 4x400 meter relay team finished third in the field, crossing the finishing line in 3:23.68. Meanwhile, the distance medley team took fifth (10:20.54).

Both the men's and women's teams will head to Milwaukee for the Panther Tune-Up next Friday (Feb. 15). The meet will serve as the final event prior to the Horizon League Indoor Championships in Youngstown, Ohio (Feb. 23-24).
