Savegnago And Wall Lead Men's Track & Field To A Third-Place Finish At Bob Keck Invite
Feb. 8, 2009 Bloomington, Ill. - Junior Andy Wall and senior Mike Savegnago paced the UIC men's track and field team to a third-place finish on Saturday at the Bob Keck Invite hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University at the Shirk Center. Wall left a meet without an event title for the first time this season, but did manage a trio of runner-up finishes for the Flames. Wall took second in the 55-meter hurdles (8.03), high jump (1.95m) and triple jump (13.72m). His time in the 55-meter hurdles was a new personal best. Savegnago, meanwhile, gave the men's team its lone event crown, placing first in the pole vault as he cleared the bar at 4.68m. He also took third in the 55-meter hurdles (8.08) and high jump (1.90m). Junior Farrahadoon Durrani gave the men's team its other podium finish on Saturday when he took second in the 800-meter run in 1:58.16. The men's team finished with 80 points. Monmouth took the team title in a closely contested race with 89.5 points. UIC will be back in action next weekend when they compete at the Chicagoland Championships.
