Romeoville, Ill. - Sophomore Whitney Burns led a dominating University of Illinois at Chicago effort as the Leo graduate placed second overall with a mark of 4:27.63 in the Mile Run at the Lewis University Friday Night Series.

Burns was followed closely by seniors Rich Daubert (4:28.01) and Joe Marren (4:31.78), who finished third and fourth overall.

Senior jump specialist Jon White took home a season-best and a second-place finish of 44'5½" in the triple jump.

The Flames also received a victory from the distance medley relay team (10:42.37) featuring Steve Jeske, Danny Smith, Tristan Roche and Graham Waller.

Smith also placed third in the 400-meter run, crossing the finish line at 52.93.

"We performed real well," UIC head coach Jim Knoedel said. "People stepped up (on Friday) and turned in some pretty good efforts."

UIC will be back in action on February 15th, as they will travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to participate in the Cannon Classic at 10:00 a.m.
