Track and Field Competes At Wisconsin Elite Invite

Madison, Wis. - The UIC men's and women's track and field team continued to compete against some of the nation's top performers over the weekend at the 2006 Wisconsin Elite Invite hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
In the non-team scoring event, the Flames had several notable individual finishes.
The men's team showed well in the 60-meter hurdles with two competitors advancing to the finals. Anthony LaVine placed fifth in 8.61 and Terrell Williams crossed in seventh place in 8.81.
Senior Brandon Cook took sixth for the Flames in the men's 200-meter race, posting a time of 23.13.
On the women's side, UIC had its greatest success in the field events. Cortnee Smith took fifth in the long jump, leaping 5.22 meters. Sara O'Mara placed sixth in both the shot put (12.76m) and weight throw (14.73m).
Mary Nardini gave the women's team its best track finish with a seventh-place standing in the 60-meter dash (8.18).
The Flames will be back in action next Saturday when they compete at the Carthage Invite in Kenosha, Wis.
