NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Seniors Anthony Hollingsworth and Andrea Crump each won multiple events, highlighting the UIC men's and women's track & field teams at Friday night's Cardinal Invitational in Naperville. Hollingsworth took home a pair of individual titles, while Crump continued her momentum from last weekend, winning three events.

The event, which lasted until the early morning Saturday, ended with UIC finishing fourth on the men's side (82), and third in the women's team competition (87).

"We had much more competition this weekend," said head coach Jim Knoedel. "The team continues to show improvement and I am excited to see what more we have left in the weeks ahead.

"Andrea Crump was phenomenal again, taking three events against some very good competition. I was very excited about her performances because she hardly had a break but still came up with great marks. Tony Hollingsworth showed me the work he put in is paying off. He is one of the hardest workers on the team and will do whatever it takes to be a success."

Hollingsworth captured the individual titles in both the 60-meter dash (6.91 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (22.37 seconds). Meanwhile Crump claimed medalist honors in the long jump (5.69 meters), triple jump (11.95 meters) and 60-meter dash (7.80 seconds).

Along with Crump's standout performance, the Flames also picked up a pair of additional first-place finishes on the women's side, including Aimee Schuh in the 60-meter hurdles (9.12 seconds), and the combination of Emma Preston, Michelle Kanpczyk, Jaime Johnson and Tess Ehrhardt in the distance medley relay (12:35.51).

Angelos Karkalis also posted a strong showing, finishing third in the 1-Mile Run (4:17.59) and second in the 800-meter run (1:56.01).

UIC will travel to Kenosha, Wis., to take part in the annual Todd Metzger Carthage Invitational next Friday (Jan. 25), with races getting underway at 3:30 p.m. CST.
