Chicago, Ill. - Sophomore Nick Gazis turned in a second-place performance in the shot put for the University of Illinois at Chicago men's track and field team at the Maroon Mini Meet hosted by the University of Chicago on Friday night.

Gazis' throw of 40-feet, 9 ½ inches was a career-best for the Skokie, Ill., native.

Freshman Pat Redden turned in a pair of top three performances in the weight events with a second-place finish in the weight throw (35-feet, 1-inch) and a third-place finish in the shot put (36-feet, 5 ½ inches).

UIC will be back in action on Saturday, January 18th, as the Flames will travel to Charleston, Ill., to participate in the Eastern Illinois Open at 9:00 a.m.
