Newcomer Lystad Plays Well For Men's Tennis At ITA Midwest Region IV Championships
Oct. 23, 2006 Minneapolis, Minn.- Freshman Sebastian Lystad's main draw qualifying performance highlighted a strong weekend of play for the UIC men's tennis team at the ITA Midwest Region IV Men's Tournament Championship at the University of Minnesota's Baseline Tennis Center. In the men's singles qualifying tournament Lystad picked up two consecutive victories to earn a bid into the main draw. The freshman out of Norway downed Cleveland State's Brad Groleski in two sets (6-4, 6-0) before picking up a 6-2, 6-2 win over Indiana State's Bruno Echer in the round of 32. Lystad went 2-2 overall, falling 6-2, 6-3 in the first round of the main draw to Ball State's Aaron Phillips. Junior Eric Fey also played well, earning a thrilling 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 win over Wright State's Nick Camilleri in the first round of qualifiers. Fey finished 1-1 in the qualifying tourney.
