Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago freshman Ken Howrey (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) was named Horizon League Men's Tennis Player of the Week it was announced this morning.

The rookie came up big in the Flames 5-2 triumph over Western Illinois last Saturday, going 2-0 with victories at both No. 3 singles and doubles.

In doubles, Howrey teamed with Wil Karydakis to earn a 8-4 win and help UIC sweep the three doubles matches versus the Leathernecks.

Howrey was then moved up to play No. 3 singles versus Western Illinois and came through with the match-clinching victory for the Flames, downing Doug McClue 6-1, 6-4.

UIC, under first-year head coach Hans Neufeld, is 1-0 on the season.
