Flames Men's Tennis Announces 2011-12 Schedule

CHICAGO - The UIC men's tennis team released its schedule for the 2011-12 campaign, and the Flames are set to begin competition Sept. 16, at the River Forest Invite. The two-day event is held in River Forest, Ill. and is the team's main event for the fall season.
The ITA Midwest Regional is set to begin Oct. 13, in Columbus, Ohio and continues through Oct. 18, with the singles and doubles finalists qualifying for the National Indoor Championship later in the fall.
UIC begins the dual season with two Chicago matchups in the first weekend. The Flames face DePaul (Jan. 14), followed by Northwestern on Jan. 15, both matches UIC serves as the visiting team. The team takes a two week break before traveling to Milwaukee, Wis. in a match against Marquette on Feb. 4. UIC closes out the month of February with matches against Western Michigan (Feb. 24) in Kalamazoo, Mich., and Bradley (Feb. 26) in Peoria, Ill.
The Flames travel to Wichita, Kansas for a matchup against Wichita on March 3, followed by Washburn (March 4) in Washburn, Kansas. As the team continues through the dual season they next take on Wisconsin (March 17) in Madison, Wis., before returning to Chicago for their first conference and home match against Wright State (March 24) and Butler on March 25. The Flames close out the month of March in a match against Green Bay (March 31) in Green Bay, Wis.
Detroit welcomes the Flames on April 7, before returning to Chicago to play host to Cleveland State (April 14) and Youngstown State on April 15. The Flames close out the regular dual season with a match against Northern Illinois at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts on April 20 and Valparaiso (April 21) in Valparaiso, Ind.
The Horizon League Championship begins April 27, and continues through April 29, in Indianapolis, Ind.
