CHICAGO - Junior Alexander Raa won a combined 19 singles and doubles matches during the 2013 campaign, second-most on the UIC men's tennis team. The Bergen, Norway native is Thursday's featured student-athlete in the "Forty Flames to Follow" in 2013-14 summer series.

Playing at predominately the No. 1 singles position down the stretch of the 2012 campaign, Raa won nine singles matches during dual play. He began the regular season at the No. 3 singles position and quickly transitioned to No. 2 before competing at No. 1 the remainder of the season - for his efforts, he was named to the All-Horizon League Second-Team.

Additionally, he teamed with Rahul Kamath to post nine wins at the top doubles flight. One of those victories came in the Horizon League Tournament against Youngstown State in the consolation match.

Off the court, Raa was named to the Horizon League All-Academic Men's Tennis Team, and was one-of 64 UIC student-athletes to be named to the League's 2012-13 honor roll. The Flames' men's tennis team was recognized as the standout Male Academic Team of the Year after compiling a 3.38 cumulative GPA during the 2012 fall semester. Four of UIC's men's tennis players, including Raa, collected flawless 4.0 GPA's during the term.
