April 25, 2003

Indianapolis, Indiana - UIC head tennis coach Hans Neufeld has already laid the blueprint for a successful collegiate program with the Flames.

Now he is being rewarded for it.

Neufeld was named the Horizon League Co-Coach of the Year along with Butler's Jason Suscha.

Neufeld is the first UIC coach since Chuck Cunningham took the honor in 1998, and in just his second year at the helm has UIC as the #3 seed in this weekend's league tournament after a 9-7 record this year.

Senior Nick Bodmer is already the all-time singles wins leader in UIC history and he added another trophy to the case on Friday night.

Bodmer was named to the all-league first team after an outstanding senior campaign.

Bodmer, along with UW-Green Bay senior Robert Shamelikian are the 15th and 16th players in league history to earn first team honors three times.

Bodmer earned all-league honors each of the four years in a Flames uniform.

UIC now looks to surprise some folks at the Horizon League Tournament which starts on Saturday in Indianapolis.
