Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago tennis stalwart Nick Bodmer was selected as the Horizon League Player of the Week it was announced Tuesday.

The junior leader of the squad, Bodmer paced the Flames to a 2-0 Horizon League weekend in Ohio. Bodmer won the No.1 singles match versus Youngstown State, 6-3, 6-4, beating Seth Banks. He also paired with Ken Howrey to beat Banks and Brandon Williams in the No.1 doubles match, 9-7, as the Flames nipped the Penguins in a tight match, 4-3.

Versus Cleveland State, Bodmer led the Flames to a 7-0 blanking of the Vikings with wins at No.1 singles and No.1 doubles. With the two weekend singles wins, Bodmer passed David Baustista into third-place on the UIC all-time singles wins list with 45. He is just four wins shy of the all-time leader, Scott Davies, in only his third year.

The Flames compete against Northern Illinois in DeKalb on Tuesday before hosting IUPU-Ft. Wayne on Friday.
