CHICAGO - The UIC men's tennis team (4-11, 0-2 HL) takes a short break from Horizon League play to host Southern Methodist in a midweek match Wednesday at the Hinsdale Racquet Club in Hinsdale, Ill., beginning at 10:30 a.m. (CT).

The Flames are coming off of a 6-1 loss to Green Bay on March 30 at the Flames Outdoor Tennis Courts.  The Phoenix took the doubles point and went on to win five singles matches, while senior Rahul Kamath took wins in doubles and singles.

In doubles, Kamath combined with Gautham Oroskar for the first time this season to defeat Michael Tenzer and Joey Leto, 8-5.  Alexander Raa and Isaac Lloveras had a close match at No. 1 doubles, but fell 9-7 to Erik Finkenbrink and Craig Cox.

Kamath transitioned into singles to capture his second win after taking down Leto, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8, at No. 6, marking his sixth win of the season at the position and second-consecutive undefeated match.

Raa had his match at No. 1 go to three sets, but finally dropped a 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 decision to Tenzer

Over the past 10 seasons, UIC has faced off with SMU seven times, with the Mustangs holding the edge in each match after last season's 7-0 defeat.

SMU is 7-7 this season after winning its last three matches against Marquette, Oklahoma State and Idaho.  The Mustangs enter into Wednesday's match having played their last five matches at home and head on the road to compete with Notre Dame and USF following their match with the Flames.
