Men's Tennis Takes On Wright State In Horizon League Opener

CHICAGO – Coming off of a 7-0 win against Olivet Nazarene, the UIC men’s tennis team (4-9) opens Horizon League play against Wright State at 5:30 p.m. (CT) Saturday at South Regency Tennis Center in Dayton, Ohio.

The Flames enter into competition having won their last match against Olivet Nazarene, 7-0, on Saturday, March 16.  UIC captured the doubles point and went on to sweep singles.

Maurizio Feoli and Alan Reifer combined in doubles to improve to 1-1 at the No. 2 position this season, as Christopher Cole and Rahul Kamath teamed together for the first time this season for their win at No. 3.

Cole, Isaac Lloveras, Feoli and Kamath all won in singles in straight-set matches, while Alexander Raa and Alan Reifer won after their respective opponents retired from injury.

Cole took a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 3 and Lloveras claimed a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 4, as Feoli brought in a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 and Kamath grabbed No. 6, 6-1, 6-0.

Despite losing the last two regular-season matches, the Flames hold a 3-2 edge over Wright State when competing the last five seasons.

Heading into Saturday’s match, the Raiders are 9-6 this season, having won their last three matches against Saint Louis, Morehead State and IUPUI, and head into a match with Valparaiso on Sunday.
