Men's Tennis Heads To Bradley

CHICAGO- Coming off two consecutive wins, the UIC men’s tennis team (2-4) is set to face Bradley Sunday, March 2 at 1 p.m. (CT) at the Clubs at River City.

The Flames last competed on Saturday, Feb. 23 when UIC defeated Chicago 4-3 at the Five Seasons Sports Club in Burr Ridge, Ill.

Alexander Raa competed in the No. 1 singles spot against Sven Kranz, winning 6-2, 6-3. Carl Hedstrom was unable to come out on top in his No. 2 match with Deepak Sabada, falling 6-2, 7-6 (8-6). Isaac Lloveras defeated Brian Sun at No. 3 in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.

At No. 4, Christopher Cole bested Ankur Bhargava, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Eric Pontow took his No. 5 match to three, but fell to Max Hawkins, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1. Nicolas Aguirre fell to Gordon Zhang at No. 6, 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-7).

Hedstrom and Maurizio Feoli joined forces at No. 1, but were defeated by Sabada and Kranz, 8-7. Cole and Lloveras were victorious in the No. 2 spot against Hawkins and Bhargava, 8-6. Raa and Nate Campanile teamed up at No. 3 to down Zsolt Szabo and Sun, 8-6

Bradley is 2-5 so far this season, defeating Belmont, 4-3 and Saint Louis, 6-1. The Flames and the Braves competed last season when the Flames fell 4-3. UIC is 5-6 against Bradley since the 2001-02 season.
