CHICAGO – Having faced tough competition during its last two matches, the UIC men's tennis team (2-8) is set to contend with IPFW Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) in Fort Wayne, Ind., at the Pine Ridge Racquet and Fitness Club.

The Flames suffered a pair of losses through matches against Illinois State and No. 33 Northwestern on Saturday, Feb. 16, and Sunday, Feb. 17, respectively.  UIC fell to the Redbirds, 7-0, and dropped a 4-0 decision to the Wildcats.

In both matches, the Flames were swept through doubles, as Alexander Raa and Rahul Kamath combined at No. 1, Alan Reifer and Christopher Cole joined at No. 2 and Isaac Lloveras split time with Maurizio Feoli and Gautham Oroskar at No. 3.

UIC was unable to come away with a singles win over the weekend.  With most matches either being lost in straight sets or going unfinished, Cole was able to take his match to three sets against Illinois State at No. 4 and Lloveras went to the tiebreaker in his first set against Northwestern.

Heading into Saturday’s match, the Flames have not faced IPFW since the 2009-10 season, when UIC took a 6-1 win over the Mastodons.  Prior to the 2009-10 meeting, the Flames won every match since the 2003-04 season.

IPFW is 3-7 this season, having claimed 7-0 wins over Chicago State, Robert Morris and Grace College (Ind.).  The Mastodons most recent match came on Wednesday, Feb. 20, with a 5-2 loss to Ball State.  IPFW is scheduled to face Michigan State following its match with UIC.
