CHICAGO - UIC sophomore Maurizio Feoli was named Horizon League Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for Jan. 14-20, the League office announced on Tuesday.  This marks the first league honor of Feoli's career.

The San Jose, Costa Rica, native was able to capture a pair of wins as the Flames (1-2) went 1-1 against Western Michigan and Chicago State on Friday, Jan. 18, and Saturday, Jan. 19, respectively.

While UIC fell 5-2 to the Broncos, Feoli was positioned at No. 6 against Andrew Cahn and was able to work back from a first-set deficit and a second-set tiebreaker to win 4-6, 7-6 (8-2), 6-4.

As the Flames swept the Cougars, 7-0, the next day, Feoli extended his winning streak with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Jean Paul Jones at No. 5.  Feoli was also able to take a doubles win, combining with Christopher Cole at No. 2 for an 8-6 win versus Jones and Julian Chavez.

Feoli and the Flames are back to competition this Saturday, when they face Marquette in Milwaukee, Wis., at 3 p.m. (CT).
